Mekusukey Oil Company was founded in 1970 by Duke R. Ligon, with the primary purpose of building a portfolio of mineral interests across the United States. Today, Mekusukey is one of the largest private mineral owners in the United States, upholding its primary purpose of acquiring and managing, not selling, perpetual mineral interests. Mekusukey owns upwards of 93,000 net mineral acres under an estimated 2.1 million gross acres, spanning 24 states and more than 450 counties. In addition to its portfolio of mineral interests, Mekusukey owns a comparatively small amount of non-participating, overriding royalty, and working interests. Mekusukey is proud of its inventory and does not intend to sell any of its assets.
Mekusukey is located in Wewoka, Oklahoma, the heart of the Seminole Nation, and has six employees. Four land and accounting employees office in Wewoka, while Mr. Ligon and his executive assistant office in Oklahoma City.
Mekusukey is committed to the acquisition of perpetual mineral interests and encourages offers from professional mineral owners and brokers, however Mekusukey is not interested in selling its minerals or other interests. We are always eager to review potential mineral purchases of producing and non-producing minerals located in any state.
